The Tennesee has all the standard Trail Gaiter® features with the addition of extra footman’s loops on the cantle to tie your gear. A handy hoof pick pocket on the back of the cantle includes a complementary hoofpick that also doubles as a flathead screwdriver to tighten any screws on your tack. Ride for hours enjoying the comfort of a soft, Impact Foam seat and soft leather while knowing your horse is just as comfortable because of the Flex2® tree. This saddle will free your gaited horse to perform his unique gait, while the short skirt won’t get in his way.

The 3-Way adjustable in-skirt rigging lets you position the rigging to suit your individual horse. The angled rear dee is great for securing your saddle when traveling over rough terrain. EBS – ErgoBalance stirrups tilt the stirrup to eliminate torque on the rider’s knees and ankles for increased comfort and promote balanced riding. Stainless steel hardware resists rust and corrosion and six sets of strings to tie all your gear.

Flex2® saddles are designed to include comfort features for both the horse and rider that work in synergy with the Flex2® tree, and are designed for riders for all sizes – including those who need a 17” seat size. Only Circle Y has the exclusive Flex2® tree design which uses a rigid ground seat for rider support, a high density bar which disperses rider weight, and low density bar which is against the horse and provides give for freedom of movement.  This results in a lightweight saddle that will never get wider over time, flex in half, or overflex to create pressure points if properly fitted. Give yourself and your horse the lightweight comfort you’ve been craving!

Proper saddle fit is first priority. Use these general guidelines to help you decide which tree fit your horse needs.
Medium: recommended for a horse with a defined wither
Wide: recommended for a horse with a round, or mutton, wither

I have just completed a 4 week excursion to Montana’s Galatians Mountains using the 1590 Tennessee Trail Gaiter® Saddle. I traveled about 120 miles pulling a pack mule and chasing cattle from the high pastures to the valley holding pastures. I mostly loved this saddle except for one major design error, which I will talk about later. This saddle held up very well despite all the abuse thrown at it. I rode with a Reinsman 1” saddle pad with jell packs, between this pad and the saddle my horse had absolutely no hot spots or wear mark’s. We climbed two 10,200 foot passes, once to get away from a forest fire. This was steep rough terrain. I rigged the saddle in the full position to the Angled Dee, then later when we both lost weight I rigged the ¾ position with the Angled Dee. I did not use the 7/8 position because I thought I needed the tension on the rear of the saddle due to the steep terrain. I was not a big fan of the EBS stirrup, but I am now. NO HOT SPOT’s on my feet, first time ever!
Now the bad! The double Dee’s pinched the hell out of my legs (blood blisters). No matter how I rigged the fenders I still got pinched. The fenders need to be thicker and wider to cover up the double Dee’s no matter what leg position the rider is in. The other solution is to rivet and sew a heavy leather flap over the double Dee’s to protect the riders legs (other saddle makers do this). I will be taking my saddle to a local saddle repairman and get this done to my saddle. Once Circle Y Saddles fixes this design error, this will be a 5 star saddle.

I have had the modifications done to the saddle as I alluded too in my last review. It is a heavy leather patch that covers up the Double Dee on both sides and it works great! I have done numerous trail rides with the modification and have no pinches at all. It is nice to be able to go on a pleasure ride without having to put chaps on. Circle Y told me they are looking into my complaint to see how they can fix it. I have pictures’ of my saddle with the modification, but this site doesn’t allow me to post them. I will be buying another Tennessee Trail Gaiter® Saddle in a couple of months for my other horse.
